RECAP | Grizzlies Winning Streak Ends at Five on Sunday Against Hanover

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Franklin College men's tennis team retreated indoors on Sunday (Apr. 14) afternoon, taking on Hanover College in search of their fifth straight win.

The Grizzlies (7-7, 4-1 HCAC) put up a tough fight against the Panthers (6-6, 3-1 HCAC) but couldn't extend their winning streak, dropping their first conference match of the year by a 9-0 score.

After dropping all three doubles matches, the Grizzlies pushed three singles matches to three sets and another that went to a tie-breaker. Blake Amonett dropped a tough three-set match in a meeting of the top singles players, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 10-12. Josh Stewart fell at the No. 5 spot, 3-6, 6-0, 9-11 and Matt Leming came up just short in the sixth position, 1-6, 6-4, 11-13.

The Grizzlies are back in action next Saturday (Apr. 20), hosting league-leading Rose-Hulman at Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
