Franklin men's and women's tennis both had their share of memorable moments on the court this year, with both teams qualifying for HCAC tournament play.

The Grizzlies' successes extend well beyond the white lines, as five players — Ailyn Hendricks and Emma Sappenfield on the women's side and Clark Hersam, Shay Kyser and Brian Vennemann for the men — were named to the CSC Academic All-District teams released on Tuesday.

To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 and play in at least 75% of their team's matches during the year.

Hersam, a sophomore from Avon, Indiana who spent most of the season at No. 1 singles for the Griz, boasts a 3.94 GPA. Kyser, a senior from Bremen, Indiana, checks in at 3.77 and Vennemann, a senior from Indianapolis, posted a 3.66.

Hendricks and Sappenfield, both of whom hail from Franklin, Indiana, own respective GPAs of 3.61 and 3.76. Hendricks, Franklin's top singles player, is a junior; Sappenfield is a sophomore.
