RECAP | Men's Tennis Wraps Up Fall Schedule with Dominant Win

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin men's tennis team brought their fall season to a close on Friday (Oct. 5) afternoon, closing out the opening part of their schedule with an 8-1 win over Johnson University (Tenn.).

Doubles competition saw Franklin take all three points from the Royals in impressive fashion, starting with an 8-0 sweep by the team's second pair of Ty McCory and Josh Stewart. The Grizzlies' top doubles team, Blake Amonett and Jacob Zachary, finished shortly after with an 8-1 win while Matt Leming and Austin Campton were 8-5 winners from the third position.

Franklin rolled to five singles wins while dropping just four points over those matches. Amonett, Zachary and Stewart steamrolled their way to 6-0, 6-0 wins from the top three positions. McCory was a 6-2, 6-1 winner from the fourth singles spot while Leming was a 6-1, 6-0 winner from the No. 5 spot in the lineup.

Franklin finishes the fall with a 2-3 record and will have four months off before their first match of the spring. The Grizzlies will meet Wabash on Feb. 1.
