RECAP | Amonett, Stone, Stewart Earn Two Points Each in Win Over Anderson

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin men's tennis team welcomed Anderson University to town for a meeting on homecoming day at the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex.

The Grizzlies (2-2) snapped a two-match slide, knocking off their HCAC rivals by a 6-3 score. In doubles play, the Grizzlies grabbed two of the three available points, starting with an 8-5 win by the No. 1 team of Blake Amonett and Alexander Pollard. Franklin's No. 3 team of Matt Stone and Josh Stewart sent the Grizzlies into singles play with a lead following an 8-3 win.

Amonett, Stone and Stewart all picked up a second point in singles play. Indianapolis, Ind.-native Amonett earned a 6-2, 6-2 win from the top singles position with Stone collecting a 6-4, 6-2 win from the third position. Stewart wrapped up the win with a 6-4, 6-4 win from the No. 5 position. Jacob Zachary put the finishing touches on the win with a 6-1, 6-2 win from the No. 2 spot in the lineup.

Franklin gets back at it on Sunday (Sept. 30) afternoon, taking on Thomas More College in Franklin. First serve from the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex is set for noon.
