RECAP | Grizzlies Drop HCAC Opener to Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Franklin men's tennis team opened Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Sunday afternoon, taking on perennial conference powerhouse Rose-Hulman.

The Grizzlies (3-7, 0-1 HCAC) trailed by a point after doubles play, but were overwhelmed by the Engineers (6-6, 2-0 HCAC) rolled to an 8-1 win.

Rose would take the first two doubles matches before Franklin would pull within a point after Dean Elrod and Zach Lester notched an 8-4 win over Jacob Pluta and Ben Strate at the No. 3 doubles spot.

However, that's as close as the Grizzlies would get, as Rose rolled to six straight-set victories in singles play to record their 32nd consecutive HCAC victory.

The Grizzlies will have six days off before their next contest, when they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. to take on Brewton Parker. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
