WARSAW, Ind. – The Franklin College men's tennis team resumed play on Saturday (Feb. 24) afternoon, taking on Alma College at the Warsaw Racquet Club.
The Grizzlies (3-3) split with the Scots (3-3) in singles competition, but Franklin came up empty in doubles play as Alma came away with a 6-3 win.
Franklin picked up their first point of the day when senior Alex Hammer picked up a hard-fought three-set win over Alma's Luke Van Fleet at No. 1 singles, 6-7 (10-8), 6-4, 1-0 (10-6). Freshman Jack Zachary also needed three sets to earn a win at the No. 3 singles spot, taking a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (11-9). Josh Stewart closed out the day with a 6-3, 6-0 win in the No. 6 spot.
The Grizzlies continue their search for their first win of the spring on Saturday, Mar. 3, when they head to Greenville, Ill. to take on Greenville and Illinois College. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
