Men's Tennis Loses Hard-Fought Match to IU-East

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's tennis team lost a hard-fought 5-4 home match to IU-East on Sunday to even its season record.

Senior Ethan Caldwell and junior Alex Hammer earned an 8-5 doubles win on the No. 1 court. However, IU-East (4-1) registered victories on the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles courts to hold a 2-1 lead into the six singles matches.

The two teams split in singles action with the Grizzlies winning on the top three courts. Hammer dropped only one game at No. 1 singles. Caldwell won by identical 6-4 set scores on the No. 2 singles court. Freshman Blake Amonett earned a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 3 singles.

IU-East won the remaining three singles matches to secure the victory.

Franklin closed out the fall schedule with a 1-1 record after a home victory against Oakland City University on September 18.
