Crawfordsville, Ind. - The Franklin College men's tennis team lost a pair of matches on Saturday at Wabash College, falling to the Little Giants 9-0 and an 8-1 match to Capital University.
The doubles team of junior Ethan Caldwell (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute North) and sophomore Alex Hammer (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) dropped only two games on the No. 1 court against Capital.
Hammer lost a hard-fought three-set singles match on the No. 1 court. He won the opening set by a 6-2 score, before Capital's Luke Buchanan won a tiebreaker 10-6 in the third set.
Sophomore Kyle Sauley (Madison, Ind./Madison) lost a 6-2, 6-4 match at No. 3 singles against Capital.
Against Wabash, Hammer lost a straight-set match at No. 1 singles by identical 6-4 set scores.
Franklin returns to action on Friday, March 25, at 3 p.m. when it battles Greenville College from Hilton Head, South Carolina during the team's Spring Break trip. The Grizzlies will play three matches from Hilton Head.
