Terre Haute, Ind. - The Franklin College men's tennis team lost its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener 9-0 to defending league champion Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday.
Junior Ethan Caldwell (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute North) lost a hard-fought match in straight sets on the No. 2 singles court. He teamed with sophomore Alex Hammer (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) to lose a match at the top of the doubles lineup.
Sophomore Dan Hicks (Cicero, Ind./Hamilton Heights) lost the opening set 6-2 before dropping the singles match on the No. 5 position.
Franklin returns to action on Saturday, March 19, at 9 a.m. when it travels to Wabash College. The Grizzlies also face Capital University at 12:30 p.m. from Wabash College.
