Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's tennis team lost its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener 8-1 to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon at the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex.
Junior Arjun Bhalla (Nashik Maharashtra, India) picked up the Grizzlies' lone victory of the match. He defeated Tyler Haas of Rose-Hulman 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (3) on the No. 6 singles court. Bhalla teamed with senior Robby Woehrle (Avon, Ind./Avon) to lose an 8-5 decision at No. 3 doubles.
Senior Luke Snyder (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) lost a hard-fought three-set match at No. 4 singles. He forced a deciding third-set tiebreaker by winning a tiebreaker 7-2 in the second frame. In the tiebreaker, he lost 11-9 to Rose-Hulman's Matt Conrad.
Franklin returns to action on Sunday, March 22 against Saint Joseph's College.
