Men's Tennis Loses Regular-Season Finale at Earlham

Richmond, Ind. - The Franklin College men's tennis will be the No. 5 seed in next weekend's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) tournament after losing 7-2 to Earlham College on Sunday. The Grizzlies concluded the regular season with a 6-6 record and a 4-4 league mark.

Senior Jared Hunt (New Whiteland, Ind./Whiteland Community) recorded a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles. He won the opening set in a tiebreaker before securing the victory with a 6-3 score in the second set.

The doubles tandem of juniors Evan Pierle (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) and Robby Woehrle (Avon, Ind./Avon) picked up an 8-5 triumph on the No. 3 court.

Franklin will begin the HCAC tournament against either No. 4 seeded Transylvania University or Defiance College on Saturday, May 3 at 9 a.m. from the West Indy Racquet Club. Transylvania secures the No. 3 seed with a victory over the College of Mount St. Joseph or Hanover College this week.
