Box Score Richmond, Ind. - The Franklin College baseball team recorded 11 hits in earning a 5-2 road Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victory over Earlham College on Saturday. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday, March 30 at noon from Richmond, Indiana.
Franklin (12-6, 3-1 HCAC) raced out to a quick start, scoring two runs each in the first and second innings. The visitors added another run in the seventh inning.
Senior Scott Windler (Lafayette, Ind./Lafayette Central Catholic) went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in. Junior Jameson Brock (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) also had three hits and scored two runs from the leadoff spot in the batting order.
Franklin's top three batters in the lineup recorded seven of the team's 12 hits, scored four runs and drove in three runs.
Sophomore Joe Ardizzone (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) drove in two runs. Junior Mitch Frey (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) scored two runs.
The early offense was enough for senior Chris Hoopingarner (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central), who allowed two runs in eight innings. The left hander improved to 5-1 on the season.
Senior Taylor Glaze (Lafayette, Ind./Lafayette Central Catholic) tossed a scoreless ninth inning to record his first save of the season.
