Drew Helton turned plenty of heads this spring in his first season with Franklin College baseball — and not just within the conference.

The sophomore first baseman was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association's All-Region 8 first team on Tuesday, adding to his list of postseason accolades.

A first team All-HCAC performer, Helton batted a team-best .403 this season and set a single-season school record with 24 doubles; he currently leads all of Division III in two-baggers per game. In addition, he hit seven home runs and had a team-high 49 runs batted in. He ranked among the conference leaders in most major offensive categories and posted a .997 fielding percentage at first.

A product of Whiteland, Indiana, Helton figures to be a key part of the Griz lineup again next spring.
