Franklin men's golf got as close as it will get to a home tournament this spring, traveling just a few minutes up the road to Timbergate Golf Club in Edinburgh for the Timbergate Preview hosted by Spalding.

The Grizzlies placed fifth in the 11-team field with a team total of 32 over par for the two-day event.

Nick Stewart led the way for the Grizzlies, posting a 78-73—151 to tie for 12th on the individual leaderboard. The junior racked up seven birdies for the tournament, including four on the second day. Finishing just behind Stewart at 78-74—152 was freshman Jake Garrison, who landed in a tie for 15th place.

Fellow rookie Hunter Riggs shot an even-par 72 on day one and then following with an 83 to finish at 155, tied for 22nd overall. Angel Soria had matching 78s to tie for 24th with a 156 total, while Tyler Young (72-85—157) tied for 28th.

Daniel Guth, Caden Anderson, Xander Hutton and Kendall Scott competed as individuals for the Grizzlies, who will play in the Earlham Spring Invitational this weekend at Richmond Elks Golf Club.
