Franklin women's track and field opened spring break, competing in the Hanover Invitational. The women placed second out of six teams, scoring 103 points.
In the 100 meters, the Grizzlies secured four of the top eight scoring spots. Freshman
Grace Tincher led the way with a new personal best of 12.56 seconds. Freshman
Alex Mast followed in third with 13.04, good for eighth in school history.
Rounding out the scoring were frosh teammates
Amani Byrd (13.06) in fourth and
Cora Mink (13.93) in eighth.
Tincher, Mink and Byrd joined forces with freshman
Alaina Kellerman in the 4x100m relay, taking second with a run of 53.56. Mast returned for the 200 meters, where she won in 26.57. That mark places her fourth in school history.
Frosh
Andrea Madrigal led the way in the 800 for the Griz, crossing in second (2:32.74). She was followed by teammates
Ariana Sheckler (2:35.21),
Fiona Sodrel (2:38.01) and
Wynn Wellington (2:39.03) in third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
Wellington and Sheckler also found success in the 1,500 meters, with Wellington (5:09.03)Â third and Sheckler (5:12.42) fourth.
Rounding out the evening on the track, the women's 4x400Â relay of Sheckler, Sodrel, Madrigal and Wellington placing second in 4:42.61.
In the field events, freshman
Savanna Miley won the pole vault with a new PB and a No. 4 all-time mark of 2.80 meters (9 feet, 2.25 inches).
Junior
Cailyn Baechle placed fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 24.60 meters (80-8).
Franklin travels to the Manchester Invitational next Saturday (April 4).
