TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Franklin women's track and field rounded out the month of January at the Rose-Hulman Classic. The ladies put together a strong showing all around to take fifth out of 10 teams with 30 points.
Freshman
Grace Tincher, after a hiatus from the long jump last meet, returned to win with a new personal and school record of 5.53 meters (18-1.75). That mark has her ranked 28th in the nation.
Tincher also took part in the 60-meter dash, sprinting to a new personal best of 7.94 seconds in the prelims. She went 7.98 in the finals to claim fifth. Teammate
Amani Byrd also ran to a new PB (8.20), fifth in school history.
In the 200, frosh
Alexandria Mast took 10th place in 27.66, tying her for seventh in Franklin history.
Freshman
Alaina Kellerman and sophomore
Izzy Egan, claimed sixth and eighth place in the high jump, clearing 1.43 meters (4-8.25) and 1.35Â (4-5).
Senior
Wynn Wellington and freshman
Ariana Sheckler both contested their first 5,000-meter run of the season. Wellington earned herself a PB of 19:54.86 to take third. Sheckler, in her first career indoor 5K, went under 21 minutes (20:59.75) to collect fourth. Sophomore
Fiona Sodrel rounded the track eight times to take eighth place (5:52.03).
The Grizzlies travel to the Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis this coming weekend (Feb. 6-7) for the Fairgrounds Invitational.
