Women's Track and Field Competes at Friday Night Spikes

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Franklin women's track and field was back in action for the second installment of the Friday Night Spikes series. The group came together to claim fifth overall out of seven.

Freshman Grace Tincher, who set a school record in the long jump a week ago, debuted in the high jump. She took second place, leaping 1.58 meters (5-2.25). That mark ties her for third in school history. Tincher's teammates, sophomore Izzy Egan and freshman Alaina Kellerman, claimed fifth and sixth place, each jumping 1.40 meters (4-7).

Egan returned for the 60-meter hurdles, snagging fourth place and coming up just shy of her personal best. In the 400 meters, frosh Alexandria Mast battled to a fourth-place spot in addition to running a new personal best. Amani Byrd got her collegiate career underway in the 60-meter dash, taking eighth place (8.48). Her performance put her 10th in school history,

Rounding out the night was the women's 4x400 meter relay consisting of Mast, sophomore Fiona Sodrel, freshman Ariana Sheckler,and senior Wynn Wellington. The foursome came together to run for a sixth-place finish (4:37.67).

The Grizzlies return to Terre Haute next Saturday (Jan. 31), for the Rose-Hulman Classic
