Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Franklin men's tennis team played the final non-conference match of their schedule on Saturday (Apr. 19), taking on Indiana-Southeast at the West Indy Racquet Club.
The Grizzlies (6-10) battled the Grenadiers (5-13) tough, but would fall by the slightest margins in a 4-3 win for IU-Southeast.
Lucas Densford and
Marcus Cox teamed up to win 6-2 at No. 3 doubles, but the Grizzlies would head into solo play down a point after IU-Southeast took two narrow wins in the other doubles matches.
Cox rallied from a set down to win 4-6, 6-2, 10-3 at No. 3 singles and
Owen Pickerill also claimed a comeback win at No. 4 singles 4-6, 6-2, 10-5.
Ezra Schwier rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles, but the Grenadiers got the split they needed in singles play with wins at the other three positions.
Franklin now turns their attention to a busy final week of regular season play that features three matches against conference opponents. The first comes on Tuesday (Apr. 22) night at home against Rose-Hulman, with first serve from Grizzly Park set for 5:30 p.m.
