Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Franklin men's tennis team faced off with Division II foe Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday (Mar. 9) afternoon in the team's first road match of the spring season.
The Grizzlies (5-4) dropped their meeting with the Panthers (1-3) by the slimmest margins, with the home side claiming a 4-3 victory.
In doubles play, the Grizzlies got a 6-3 win from the No. 3 pair of
Nathan Jarboe and
Shay Kyser but dropped the doubles point with Kentucky Wesleyan taking the other two matchups.
Jarboe was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at No. 1 doubles with
Marcus Cox winning 5-7, 6-4, 10-7 at No. 5 singles and
Ezra Schwier was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 6 singles. But the deciding points for the Panthers came in tie-breakers at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles, with the hosts escaping with wins at both spots.
Franklin is back at home on Monday (Mar. 11) afternoon, hosting Prairie State University. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
