RICHMOND, Ind. – Franklin College freshman
Jacob Paine earned the first tournament win of his career on Monday (Apr. 24), as the Franklin men's golf team wrapped up their regular season.
Paine won by the Earlham Spring Invitational by three shots, carding an even-par 144 (71-73) to lead the way for a Franklin team that finished in third place overall with a 613 (311-302), finishing eight shots back of the top team spot at the tournament.
Joining Paine in the top-five was fellow rookie
Braxton Christie, who earned a share of fifth place overall with a 152 (80-72). Junior
Zach Ricketts placed third on the team and 17
th overall with a 158 (82-76) followed by
Carter Giggy in a tie for 22
nd with a 161 (78-83). Tim Leonard rounded out the top-five with a 167 (86-81) and a 35
th place finish.
Blake Hammond competed as an individual and tied for 27
th overall with a 163 (82-81).
Franklin will now turn their attention to the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships, which are set for May 5-7 at Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind.
