LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Franklin men's golf team headed to Oxmoor CC on Saturday and Sunday (Apr. 15-16) for the Spalding Spring Invitational with 36 holes played across the two-day event.
Franklin had a pair of rookies finish inside the top-10 and the team put together a third-place finish with a 613 (298-315), finishing seven shots back of runner-up Webster University.
Freshman
Jacob Paine led the way for the Grizzlies, ending the weekend alone in fifth place with a 152 (73-79). One shot back of Paine was fellow newcomer
Braxton Christie, as he tied with two others in sixth place with a 153 (77-76). Senior
Carter Giggy narrowly missed out on a top-10 finish, taking 11th overall with a 155 (77-78) just one spot ahead of junior
Zach Ricketts and his 12th place finish with a 156 (74-82).
Junior
Zayne Spangler tied for 19th with a 159 (79-80), sophomore Tim Leonard shared 21st place with a 160 (74-86),
Wyatt Krider tied for 28th with a 163 (83-80) and Blake Hammod carded a 165 (80-85) to finish in 32nd place and close out the list of Franklin competitors.
The Grizzlies are back on the course for the final time in the regular season on Apr. 23-24, when they travel to Richmond, Ind. for the Earlham Spring Invitational at Richmond Elks GC.
