UNION GROVE, Ala. - The Franklin men's golf team packed up and headed south over the weekend, traveling to Cherokee Ridge GC for the Alabama Invasion, hosted by Spalding University on Mar. 4-5.
The Grizzlies grabbed third place at the 36-hold event, finishing with a team score of 641 (318-325) overall. Franklin was led by freshman
Braxton Christie and his tie for fifth place overall with a score of 154 (75-79), putting him six shots back of the top of the leaderboard. Also collecting a top-10 finish was fellow rookie
Jacob Paine, as he tied for 10th with a 159 (78-81).
Junior
Zach Ricketts finished just outside the top-10 in a tie for 12th with a 162 (83-79), senior
Carter Giggy took 17th with a 166 (87-79), sophomore Tim Leonard place 18th with a 167 (83-84),
Blake Hammond took 20th with a 169 (82-87),
Zayne Spangler placed 23rd with a 171 (81-90) and
Wyatt Krider took 27th with a 189 (97-92).
The Grizzlies are off for two weeks before heading to Terre Haute, Ind. on Mar. 18-19 for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate tournament at the Country Club of Terre Haute.
