RECAP | Men's Track & Field Picks Up Fourth Place Finish on Saturday

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Franklin men's track and field team hit the halfway point of the indoor season on Saturday (Feb. 4), taking part in the Mrs. G Invitational hosted by Trine University.
 
The Grizzlies picked up a fourth-place finish out of 10 clubs, earning 58 points as a unit. The day produced a host of top-five finishes as well as one win that came from junior Jack Sells in the 3000 meter run and his time of 9:08.32. That time moves the Indianapolis, Ind.-native into eighth place in the event in program history.
 
Freshman Sam Wilson and sophomore John Asplund also picked up points in the 3K with Wilson finishing fourth in 9:18.26 and Asplund placing fifth in 9:19.22. The two now occupy the ninth and 10th place spots in the 3K, just behind Sells.
 
Seniors Zach Roberts and Nick Patton placed third and fourth, respectively, in the finals of the 60m hurdles. Roberts hit the line in 9.13 seconds with Patton just a bit behind in 9.16 seconds. Eliot Davidson also earned points in the 60m hurdle, placing sixth in 10.14 seconds.
 
The Grizzlies grabbed top-five finishes in five other events on the day. Drew McGaha took third in the 800m in 1:59.94 to move into eighth in program history in the indoor season. Corbin Lee took fourth in the 5K with a time of 17:31.56 while Luke Paddock placed fifth in the 400 in 52.92. The 4x400 meter relay team of Paddock, McGaha, Logan McIntosh and Eli Cochrane snared third place in 3:34.32 and Noah Sigler finished fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.98m.
 
The Grizzlies' indoor season resumes next Friday (Feb. 10) night, when a small group heads to Bloomington, Ind. for the Hoosier Hill Invitational. One day later, the whole team will be in Greencastle, Ind. for the DePauw Indoor Invitational.
