JOELTON, Tenn. – The Franklin men's golf team hit the links for the first time this spring on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 24-25) at Nashville National Golf Link for the Music City Shootout.
It was a strong start to the spring for the Grizzlies, as they turned in a third-place finish and set new single round and season-best scores for the team. Franklin shot a 596 (290-306) for the weekend, breaking 300 for 18 holes for the first time this year and 600 for 36 holes for the first time all season.
Finishing at the top of the Franklin leaderboard was freshman
Jacob Paine and his tie for fifth place with a 148 after shooting two straight rounds of 74. Fellow freshman
Braxton Christie tied for ninth overall and had the best round of any Franklin player for the weekend, finishing with a 150 (71-79).
Senior
Carter Giggy fired a season-low round on day one on his way to a tie for 12
th place with a 151 (73-78). Junior
Zach Ricketts gave Franklin four finishers in the top-20 after tying for 17
th wit a 153 (72-81). Junior
Blake Hammond rounded out Franklin's lineup with a tie for 21
st place and a 154 (79-75).
The Grizzlies are back on the links next weekend (Mar. 4-5) when they head to Union Grove, Ala. for the Alabama Invasion at Cherokee Ridge GC.
