RECAP | Grizzly Men Win Four Events Over Busy Weekend of Competition

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Franklin men's track and field team began the final stretch toward the indoor conference championships over the weekend, with two events on the calendar on Friday and Saturday.
 
Four Grizzlies headed to Bloomington, Ind. for the Hoosier Hills Invitational on Friday and the entire team hit the road on Saturday for the DePauw Indoor Invitational. Franklin finished fourth on Saturday, grabbing 93 points on the day.
 
Jack Sells, Eli Cochrane, John Asplund and Drew McGaha were the four Grizzlies that traveled to Bloomington on Friday night and all had strong showings in their lone events. Asplund placed 19th in the 3000m run in 8:58.59 with Sells taking 23rd in the same event with a time of 9:03.71. The other two runners took part in the 800m run, with McGaha placing seventh in 1:59.94 and Cochrane taking ninth in 2:00.68.
 
Saturday saw the Grizzlies pick up four wins total, highlighted by Noah Sigler's dominant showing in the weight throw. The junior set a new PR and improved on his third-best throw in program history with a toss of 16.04m. Sigler also took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 13.04m.
 
McGaha picked up the first win on the track with a time of 1:27.13 in the 600m run. Parker Mullins finished atop the field in the 1000m run in 2:43.42. The distance medley relay of Cochrane, McGaha, Sam Wilson and Luke Paddock went on to take first place with a time of 10:56.77. Franklin's other relay team, the 4x400m of Henry Davidson, Eliot Davidson, David Sieg and Peyton Ruble, would take fourth with a time of 3:45.95.
 
Other notable finishes from Saturday included:
-Logan McIntosh, third in 400m in 52.40 & fourth in high jump at 1.75m
-Cochrane, third in the 600m in 1:27.46
-Tristan Konkler, third in the high jump at 1.80m
-Noah McCracken, fourth in the 1000m in 2:45.92
-Zach Roberts, fifth in the 200 in 23.74
-Ezra Baker, fifth in the long jump in 6.10m
-Eliot Davidson, sixth in the 60m hurdles in 10.13
 
Franklin hits the road for their final meet before the indoor conference championships next Friday (Feb. 17) night, heading to Terre Haute, Ind. for the RHIT Friday Night Spikes Tune-Up.
