CARMEL, Ind. - For the third time in the outdoor season and fifth time overall this year, Franklin's Zak Wiley has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Male Field Athlete of the Week.
It was another strong showing for the Mooresville, Ind.-native on Saturday, as he claimed Most Outstanding Field Athlete at the Indiana DIII Championships. Wiley picked up a win in the hammer throw with a toss of 50.37m, marking the second time in his career he hit the 50m mark in the hammer. Wiley added a new PR in the discus with a throw of 47.66m that earned him runner-up in the event. He would also add points in a third event, taking sixth in the javelin after a throw of 40.46m.
Wiley and the rest of the track and field team closes out the regular season on Friday (Apr. 22) night, when they compete at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet in Terre Haute, Ind. Competition gets underway at 4:30 p.m.
