Myles Baker's collegiate track debut was one for the record books, and he's already making his mark on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The freshman won the 60-meter dash during the Fightin' Engineers Invitational at Rose-Hulman on Saturday and was rewarded by being named the HCAC's Male Athlete of the Week for sprints and hurdles.

Baker, a native of Henryville, Indiana, ran a time of 7.20 seconds during his preliminary heat, the fastest in the field. His finals time of 7.14 seconds not only won the event, but it already gives him the third-fastest time in school history.

He and the Grizzlies will return to action on Jan. 16 with the first Friday Night Spikes meet, again at Rose-Hulman.
