GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The Franklin track and field teams ventured west on Saturday to take on a loaded field at the DePauw Invitational.

The Griz women scored 41 points to finish fifth out of 11 teams, while the men were eighth of 12 teams with 33 points.

The women's all-freshman 4x200 meter relay squad of Grace Tincher, Amani Byrd, Alexandria Mast and Cora Mink ran to a third-place finish in 1:56.70. Mast added a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash, running an almost two-second personal best (1:02.76) to put herself sixth in school history.

The distance crew saw two athletes place themselves in the top eight in the mile. Senior Wynn Wellington (5:41.13) snagged seventh, while teammate sophomore Fiona Sodrel, running a new PB (5:44.29), claimed eighth.

In the field, Tincher leaped 1.58 meters (5 feet, 2.25 inches) to take the top spot in the high jump. Fellow freshman Alaina Kellerman finished in second, jumping 1.48 meters (4-10.25). Kellerman also placed third in the pole vault, clearing 3.07 meters (10-0.75") to break a decade-old school record by a quarter of an inch.

For the men, the 4x200 meter relay consisting of sophomore Brayden Wilkins, freshman Myles Baker, freshman Dyreese Elliott and junior Steven Scott claimed fourth in a time of 1:32.71. That mark puts them second in school history. In the 400, freshman Khalid Amadou ran a new personal best (52.35), placing second. His time ranks 10th on the school's all-time list.

Sophomore William Hirsch ran to a second-place finish in the 5,000 meters (15:49.70), while in the field, sophomore Garek Ellis threw to a new PB, 13.33 meters (43-9), putting himself 10th in school history.

The Grizzlies head to Springfield, Ohio this coming Saturday (Feb. 21) to wrap up the indoor regular season at the Wittenberg Invite.
