CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Franklin College women's track and field team made the short trip to Wabash College on Sunday (Apr. 10) for the Huntsman Family Invitational, where they would tangle with five other teams for the top spot.
It was another strong showing for the Franklin men, as the claimed three event titles and earned a runner-up finish with 104 points, finishing just ahead of Wittenberg and Division I Eastern Illinois in the standings.
Two of Franklin's event wins came courtesy of a familiar suspect, with senior Zak Wiley besting the field in the hammer throw (49.65m) and the javelin (42.03m). Wiley would pick up more points for Franklin with a fourth place finish in the discus and a throw of 42.99m.
Wiley headlined another strong afternoon for the Franklin field athletes. Sophomore Noah Sigler notched runner-up finishes in both the shot put (12.26m) and the hammer throw (45.36m), Dalen Williams took third in the discus (43.55m), Tivon Wiley placed third in the pole vault (3.80m) and Evan Hosea earned fifth in the hammer (42.57m).
Franklin's 4x400m relay team of Michael Heading, Eli Cochrane, Luke Paddock and Jaycee Wilburn picked up the Grizzlies' final event win of the day, besting the field in 3:31.58. Wiley, Tristan Konkler, Jason Brown and Zach Roberts combined to take fourth in the 4x100m relay in 45.85.
