Franklin men's track and field started off its spring break by traveling to Hanover College for the Hanover Invite. The men placed fourth out of six teams with 69 points.
Getting the day started, freshman
Joe Johnson won the javelin with a toss of 48.40 meters (159 feet, 9 inches).
In the 100 meters, frosh
Myles Baker placed fifth with a season best 11.17.
The 200 meters saw four Grizzlies score in the top eight. Freshman
Khalid Amadou led the way with a 22.72, followed by Baker in 22.74. Freshmen
Gabriel Gomes (22.91) and
Austin Menefee (23.15) crossed in fourth and seventh, respectively.
Junior
Nathan Furnish finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.75, followed by frosh
Bo Lachnit in sixth (2:06.57).
The distance squad rounded out their evening with the 5,000 meters, scoring three Grizzlies.
Sam Wilson claimed second (15:48.30), followed by
Riley Devening (16:08.78) in fourth and
Zach Schroeder (16:17.87) in fifth.
The 4x400 relay team of Furnish,
Kai Sheeley, Lachnit and
Espoir Emmanuel finished in fourth (3:47.81).
In the hammer throw, senior
Caleb Pipes secured fourth with a toss of 46.61 meters (152-11). That's a new PB and number four all-time in school history. The shot put saw frosh
Curtis Burke place sixth with a throw of 12.99 meters (42-7.5).
Capping off the night, Johnson returned in the discus throw, where he placed sixth with a mark of 39.88 meters (130-10).
The Grizzlies return to action next Saturday (April 4th) at the Manchester Invitational.
