CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Franklin College men's track and field team resumed the indoor season on Saturday (Jan. 22) afternoon, taking part in the Mount St. Joseph Collegiate Invitational.
Taking on six other teams, the Grizzlies collected 48 points on the day to earn a fifth-place finish.
Junior Jaycee Wilburn earned a win for the second week in a row, besting the field in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.23. It was a new PR for the New Castle, Ind.-native and moved him into third place on the program's indoor top-10 list.
The Grizzlies also claimed first place in the 4x400 meter relay, with the quartet of Wilburn, Drew McGaha, Michael Heading and Eli Cochrane taking top billing with a time of 3:40.14.
Fellow junior Nick Patton claimed a third place finish in a tightly contested 60-meter hurdles race, breaking the take in 9.14 seconds. Also earning a third place finish was freshman Drew McGaha in the 800m run with a time of 2:07.30. Luke Paddock (54.84) and Ethan Bequeret (56.61) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400 meter dash with Paddock setting a new PR in the event.
Other notable finishes included: John Asplund finishing fifth in the mile (4:44.53), Corbin Lee placing fifth in the 5K (17:44.46), Tristan Konkler finishing sixth in the high jump (1.70m) and Zach Roberts taking sixth in the 60-meter dash (7.39).
The Grizzlies are back in action on Friday (Jan. 28) night, when they to go Terre Haute, Ind. for the Rose-Hulman Friday Night Spikes event. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
