Baseball Team Cruises Past Hanover

FRANKLIN, Ind. (April 23, 2017) The Franklin College baseball team rolled to a 7-1 win Tuesday evening against visiting Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Hanover.

The Grizzlies broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the third inning and added one in the sixth and two in the seventh to secure the win. They combined for seven hits in support of winning pitcher Aaron Leming, who improved to 3-2. Mitch Caster worked 2 1/3 innings of relief and picked up the save.

Third baseman Frank Podkul powered the Grizzlies' offense, going 2 for 3 at the plate, including a home run, with two runs and four RBIs. First baseman Nick Wright was 1 for 4 with two runs, and center fielder Ryan Erlandson was 1 for 3 with two RBIs.

With the win, the Grizzlies improve to 19-14 overall and 11-9 in the HCAC.

Franklin returns to action Friday for the first of a three-game series against visiting HCAC rival Anderson. Game time is 4 p.m.
