Baseball Team Loses In Extra Innings

CINCINNATI, Ohio (April 14) – The Franklin College baseball team lost a 3-2 heartbreaker in 10 innings on Friday evening at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Mount St. Joseph.

The game was the opener of a three-game series that resumes with a doubleheader on Saturday.

Franklin trailed 2-1 after eight innings but tied the game in the top of the ninth when designated hitter Jordan Clark scored on a ground out to second base by shortstop Sam Claycamp.

Mount St. Joseph scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th when Drew Werner scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by teammate Ryan McCauley.

With the loss, the Grizzlies slip to 16-10 overall and 8-5 in the HCAC. Mount St. Joseph improves to 13-13 and 7-6.

Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon, followed by Game 2 at 3:30 p.m.
