Baseball Team Falls In Extra Innings

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (April 11, 2017) – The Franklin College baseball team lost a 7-6, 10-inning heartbreaker Tuesday evening at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Franklin trailed 6-4 in the top of the ninth inning but tied the game on a two-run home run by shortstop Sam Claycamp. But the host Engineers scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th to pull out the win.

Claycamp finished the night 3 for 5 at the plate with two runs scored and a game-high three RBIs. Third baseman Frank Podkul was 2 for 5 with two runs and an RBI, and catcher Jackson Freed was 2 for 5 with an RBI.

With the loss, Franklin slipped to 16-9 overall and 8-4 in the HCAC.

The Grizzlies return to action at 4 p.m. Friday for the first of a three-game series at HCAC opponent Mount. St. Joseph.
