Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College baseball team lost its series opener to Defiance College 8-0 on Saturday in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play from John P. McDowell Field.

The three-game weekend series is being played at Franklin after weather conditions moved the originally scheduled series from Defiance. The Yellow Jackets are the home team in all three games.

Defiance scored three runs in the first inning and pushed across another run in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Two-run fifth and eighth innings capped the game's scoring.

The teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Sunday, April 10, at 11 a.m. from John P. McDowell Field. Live statistics of both games will be available.
