Box Score Hanover, Ind. - Freshman Jordan Clark (Connersville, Ind./Connersville) tossed six scoreless innings and hit a home run to lead the Franklin College baseball team in a 7-0 victory at Hanover College on Tuesday in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play.
Clark tallied three hits, including a solo home run in the third inning to lead the team's nine-hit offensive attack. He recorded eight strikeouts in six innings as the starting pitcher. Clark has hit a home run in four consecutive games.
Franklin (9-12, 4-4 HCAC) got on the scoreboard in the second inning as senior Joe Ardizzone (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) scored on a ground out from sophomore Mitch Schuman (St. Leon, Ind./East Central). Ardizzone led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third base following a double by sophomore Frank Podkul (Schererville, Ind./Andrean).
Clark gave the visitors a 2-0 lead with his fifth home run of the season in the third inning.
Franklin scored three unearned runs in the seventh inning to increase the lead to 5-0. Senior Drew Kammerer (Fortville, Ind./Mt. Vernon) scored the first run of the inning following the second of four Hanover errors in the frame. Freshman Tanner Nicholson (Greencastle, Ind./Greencastle) and Mitchell Moore (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) later scored in the seventh inning.
The Grizzlies capped the scoring in the contest with two runs in the eighth inning.
Sophomore Jackson Freed (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) collected two hits in the victory.
Sophomore Aaron Leming (Indianapolis, Ind./Scecina Memorial) tossed three scoreless innings in relief to record his first collegiate save.
Franklin is scheduled to begin a three-game HCAC series at Defiance College on Friday, April 8, at 4:15.
