Box Score Hanover, Ind. - The Franklin College baseball team lost a 4-1 road Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference midweek contest to Hanover College on Tuesday.
The Panthers got on the scoreboard in the first inning when Chris Ares stole third base and later scored on a throwing error. Hanover scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead. Ares singled home Tyler Fitch for the big hit in the frame.
Franklin cut the deficit to 4-1 in the sixth inning on a base hit by freshman Mitchell Moore (Seymour, Ind./Seymour). Senior Drew Kammerer (Fortville, Ind./Mt. Vernon) scored on the base hit.
The Grizzlies had runners at second and third bases in the eighth inning, but two consecutive strikeouts ended the threat.
Freshman Tanner Nicholson (Greencastle, Ind./Greencastle) and Moore each tallied two hits for Franklin. Senior Joe Ardizzone (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) and Kammerer each recorded one hit.
Franklin returns to action on Friday, April 1, at 4:15 p.m. when it begins a three-game home series with a single nine-inning contest against Earlham College from John P. McDowell Field.
