Box Score Hanover, Ind. - Hanover College scored seven runs in the fourth inning to pick up a 7-4 victory over the Franklin College baseball team in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Tuesday afternoon.
Franklin got the scoreboard first with a three-run fourth inning. A fielding error allowed sophomore Jacob Troxell (Lapel, Ind./Lapel) to score the first run of the frame. A two-run single by freshman Mitch Schuman (Sunman, Ind./East Central) gave the visitors a 3-0 lead.
However, the Panthers quickly answered with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to grab momentum of the contest. The first five batters reached safely including a leadoff home run. A two-run triple broke a 3-3 tie. Hanover later added two run-scoring doubles to cap the scoring.
Franklin cut the deficit to 7-4 on a single by freshman Frank Podkul (Schererville, Ind./Andrean) in the sixth inning. The base hit scored junior Braden Pelley (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North).
Podkul and Schuman each tallied two hits in the game to lead Franklin's offensive attack. Pelley scored two runs for the Grizzlies.
Franklin returns to action on Thursday, April 23 at 6 p.m. when it battles Mount St. Joseph University in a single nine-inning HCAC game at Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis. Tickets will be $5 and can be purchased at Gate 3 on Thursday.
