Box Score Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College baseball team lost its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) series opener 13-1 to Earlham College on Friday afternoon at John P. McDowell Field. The Quakers scored six times in the sixth inning to break the game open.
Earlham (19-5, 9-4 HCAC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after a three-run third inning. Later, the visitors took a 9-0 lead behind the big sixth inning. The team added four more runs in the ninth inning to cap its 15-hit offensive attack.
Franklin (11-14, 4-8 HCAC) received three hits from senior Mitch Frey (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo). Junior Jason Simpkins (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) added two hits.
Senior Jameson Brock (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) and sophomore Damon DeJesus (Fort Wayne, Ind./Blackhawk Christian) rounded out the team's seven-hit effort.
The two teams will conclude the three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11 at noon. Live statistics of both games will be available.
