Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Emerson, Ga. - The Franklin College baseball team picked up a pair of victories on Saturday over Augsburg College (Minn.) to take three of the four games in the weekend series from the Perfect Game Turf Complex. The Grizzlies won the opener 5-4 before a 5-1 triumph in the second game.

Three of the four games in the series were decided by one run.

In Saturday's first game, senior Mitch Frey (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) delivered the game-winning hit in the top of the seventh inning. With the score tied at 4-4 and two outs, Frey singled home junior Chase Steinbrunner (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli).

Franklin (3-1) plated three runs in the first inning to take the early lead. Senior Jameson Brock (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) scored on a passed ball for the inning's first run. A run-scoring groundout by junior Joe Ardizzone (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) scored Frey. Junior Braden Pelley (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) capped the early scoring with a double to plate junior Drew Kammerer (Fortville, Ind./Mt. Vernon).

Augsburg battled back to take a 4-3 lead behind two runs in the fourth inning.

The Grizzlies tied the game in the fifth inning when freshman Mitch Schuman (Sunman, Ind./East Central) opened the frame with a triple. He would later score on a groundout by Brock.

Junior Justin Brown (Jimtown, Ind./Jimtown) allowed three earned runs in six innings to pick up the victory. Senior Lincoln Jones (Ramsey, Ind./North Harrison) tossed a scoreless seventh inning to pick up his second save of the season. Jones sealed Franklin's 8-7 win in the nightcap on Friday.

In the second game, Franklin scored two runs in the third and fourth innings to build a 4-0 lead. The margin grew to 5-0 an inning later. Kammerer led the nine-hit attack going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Brock recorded two hits in the victory.

Freshman Aaron Leming (Indianapolis, Ind./Scecina Memorial) scattered five hits and allowed one unearned run in tossing a complete game.

On Friday, Augsburg picked up a 7-6 win in the opener before the Grizzlies earned an 8-7 triumph.
