Three-Run Eighth Inning Propels Baseball to Series-Opening Win over Albion

Box Score

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College baseball team scored three runs in the eighth inning in earning a 9-7 come-from-behind victory against Albion College to open the three-game weekend series on Friday from John P. McDowell Field.

Junior pitch-hitter Tyler Ison (Whiteland, Ind./Whiteland Community) followed with a single. A walk to sophomore Drew Kammerer (Fortville, Ind./Mt. Vernon) loaded the bases.

Then, freshman Cody Shipley (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 7-7. Following a strikeout, junior Jameson Brock (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) was hit by a pitch to plate Ison and give the Grizzlies an 8-7 lead. Junior Mitch Frey (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) also walked to score an insurance run.

Franklin scored its three runs in the eighth on just one base hit.

Sophomore Justin Brown (Jimtown, Ind./Jimtown) retired Albion in order in the top of the ninth inning to secure the victory. The right hander allowed three hits in 3.2 innings in earning his first win of the season.
