Grace Tincher didn't waste any time making her presence known for the Franklin women's track and field program.

The freshman was selected as the HCAC Athlete of the Week in jumps after a sterling debut performance at Rose-Hulman's first Friday Night Spikes indoor meet of the season.

Tincher, who hails from Palmyra, Indiana, set a school record on her first career long jump try, sailing 5.21 meters (17 feet, 1 inch). She topped that mark three more times on the evening, eventually jumping 5.46 meters (17 feet, 11 inches) on her final jump.

Additionally, Tincher placed fourth in the 60-meter dash; her preliminary time of 7.95 seconds in that event is the second fastest in school history.

Franklin will be back at Rose-Hulman this weekend for the second Friday Night Spikes meet.
