SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — The Franklin women's cross country team kicked off the 2025 campaign on Saturday morning, hosting the annual Grizzly Invitational at its home course of Blue River Memorial Park.
The Grizzlies claimed seventh place in the eight-team field over the 5-kilometer course.
Leading the charge was sophomore Fiona Sodrel, who finished in 46th with a time of 21:51.65. Following Sodrel, senior Wynn Wellington crossed in 21:56.11 to secure 50th. Ariana Sheckler claimed the third team spot in her collegiate debut, placing 57th in 22:30.53. Junior Elliot Taylor paced out a 22:52.80, good enough for 63rd. Rounding out the scoring for the Grizzlies was newcomer Alora Coble in 83rd (24:24.13).Â
Franklin will be on the road next Saturday (Sept. 13) for the Hanover Invitational. Start time for the first race is set for 10:00 a.m.
