GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Franklin Track and field got their first look at a championship style meet, competing in the Indiana DIII Championship, (April 12).
The men's squad tallied 66 points to place sixth, while the women scored 13 to claim seventh.
The Grizzlies started the day off strong with Senior Logan McIntosh securing first with a personal best and meet record throw of 55.18m (181'0"). Freshman William Hirsch earned himself a win on the day in the 5000m, setting a personal best and new DIII meet record. In the 400m, sophomore Steven Scott took second place, running a personal best and new school record (48.96). Following Scott, senior Luke Paddock ran a personal best to come in third (50.15). Scott, Paddock, and McIntosh would join up with freshman Nathan Vujaklija in the 4x400 Relay, taking second place, and shattering the school record in the process.
Notable finishes on the afternoon included:
Brayden Wilkins- Sixth in the 100m (10.91) PB, Fifth in the 200m, (22.21) PB, Seventh All Time in School History.
McIntosh- Fourth in the 400m (51.25).
Vujaklija- Eighth in the 400m (52.02).
Haley Makowski- Fourth in the 400m (1:05.66).
Vicki Arney- Eighth in the 400m (1:17.46).
Elliott Gough- Sixth in the 800m (1:59.57), PB.
Trevor Newby- Seventh in the 3000m Steeple Chase (10:01.58).
Fiona Sodrel- Seventh in the 1500m (5:23.81), PB.
Tristan Konkler- Eighth in the High Jump, 1.73m (5'8").
Izzy Egan- Sixth in the High Jump, 1.43m (4'8.25"), PB.
Addison Piotrowski- Seventh in the High Jump, 1.38m (4'6.25").
Ethan Hochstetler- Sixth in the Shot Put, 12.69m (41'7.75").
Alex Shaevitz- Seventh in Long Jump, 6.05m, (19'10.25").
