TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Franklin men's and women's track and field teams got their outdoor campaign started on Saturday (Mar.22), competing in the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Meet.
Scoring 76 points, the men finished sixth out of the 10 team pool. The women finished eighth out of nine teams, scoring five points.
Top finishers' for the men started with the Javelin, senior
Logan McIntosh tossing 51.99m (170'7"). Freshman
Alex Shaevitz would follow that with a first-place finish in the high jump, 1.85m (6'0.75"). Freshman
William Hirsch won the 5000m (15:16.06), setting a personal best and claiming the number five all time outdoor spot.
Steven Scott,
Luke Paddock,
Nathan Vujaklija, and McIntosh joined forces for the 4x400m relay, placing second (3:23.39). In the 400m, Scott placed third (49.46), besting her career mark of 50.00, putting him number two all-time outdoors. Paddock (50.78), Vujaklija (51.10), and McIntosh (51.37) would follow Scott in fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.
On the women's side, top finishes for the day came from freshman
Addison Piotrowski, placing fourth in the high jump, 1.35m (4'5").
Notable finishes on the afternoon included:
Brayden Wilkins- Third in the 100m (10.94).
John Asplund- Third in the 5000m (15:43.06).
Jonah Decker- Eighth in the 5000m (16:08.56), Personal Best.
Shaevitz- Fourth in the Long Jump, 6.56m (21'6.25"), Eighth all time outdoors.
Ethan Hochstetler- Seventh in the Shot Put, 12.70m (41'8").
Tori Abston- Ninth in the Hammer, 31.64m (103'10"), Personal Best.
Fiona Sodrel- 10
th in the 1500m (5:26.07).
