NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Franklin women's track and field team faced off with all comers from around the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) on Friday and Saturday (Apr. 26-27) at the 2024 HCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Grizzlies came home with five medals from the weekend and a sixth-place finish as a team, finishing with 50.5 points as a team.
Senior
Sarah O'Day earned three medals over the course of the two days, picking up gold in the finals of the 100m dash in 12.38 seconds. O'Day added a runner-up finish in the long jump with a PR leap of 5.05m and she took bronze in the finals of the 200m dash in 25.85 seconds.
Sophomore
Alison Muck claimed a silver medal in the finals of the 100m hurdles, hitting the finish line in 15.67 seconds. Muck narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the high jump, placing fourth after clearing the 1.45m bar.
Junio
Ella Bashor earned the first individual medal of her career with a third-place finish in the 10K in 40:51.86. Bashor added a ninth-place finish in the 5K in 20:52.83. Other notable finishes included;
Josie Lyons finishing fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:19.83,
Haley Makowski taking seventh in the 800m in 2:35.32 and
Kalyn Ritz placing seventh in the pole vault after clearing the 2.01m bar.
Franklin is set to head to Joliet, Ill. on May 9 to take part in the St. Francis Fighting Chance Meet.
