SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – The Franklin women's cross country team took to the course at Blue River Park on Saturday (Nov. 2) afternoon for their second of three meets at their home course and the 2024 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships.
Senior
Ella Bashor claimed all-conference honors in her final career league championship, leading the way for a Franklin team that finished sixth overall with 175 points.
Bashor became a four-time all-conference performer at the meet, finishing the 6K race in 19
th place with a time of 24:57.49. Fellow senior
Haley Makowski placed second on the Grizzlies and earned a 27
th place finish after she hit the finish line in 25:29.32. junior
Wynn Wellington took home a 39
th place finish with a time of 26:24.86.
Freshman
Fiona Sodrel took 59
th in her first league championship with a time of 28:10.71, followed by
Cailyn Baechle in 66
th place with a time of 28:30.32 and senior
Emily Rector in 68
th place and her time of 28:44.77.
The Grizzlies have one more race on the schedule, with the 2024 Great Lakes Regional set to take place back at Blue River Park on Saturday, Nov. 16 with Franklin serving as event host.
