SHELBYVILLE, Indiana – Franklin men's cross country closed out their season on Saturday (Nov. 16) afternoon, taking part in the Great Lakes Regional race at Blue River Park with Franklin College serving as regional hosts.
The Grizzlies battled from start to finish as they finished 22nd overall out of the 42-team field.
Senior John Asplund crossed the line first for the Grizzlies, with a 56th place finish in the 8K race, reaching the finish line in 26:14.99. Freshmen William Hirsch placed second in the Franklin lineup and 71st overall with a time of 26:28.17 setting a new personal best. Junior Riley Devening placed 155th in 27:40.47 and Junior Trevor Newby stepped across the line in 162nd place in 27:46.23.
Rounding out the lineup for Franklin saw Junior Jonah Decker place 165th in 27:52.10, sophomore Trevor Newby take 166th in 26:38.3, Sophomore Nathan Furnish hit the finish line in 202nd in 28:49.60 and Freshmen Zachary Schroeder finish in 219th in 29:10.11.
