CHICAGO, Ill. – Five divers from the Franklin swimming and diving team headed to the Windy City on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 24-25) with the opportunity to face the top divers in the region at the NCAA Diving Regional.
Representing Franklin's men were senior
Gauge Creech and junior
Cameron Baker while the women sent a program-best three divers to the regional in senior
Faith Jackson, junior
Carley Bond and freshman
Kaleigh Schuler.
Making his third and final career appearance at the diving regional, Creech opened the weekend with an 11
th place finish on the one-meter board with an 11-dive score of 419.35. One day later, the most decorated male diver in program history took ninth on the three-meter board with a total of 430.05 points.
Making his first career appearance at the diving regional, Baker put up 327.75 points on the one-meter board on night one. A day later, the Shelbyville, Ind.-native put up a score of 350.35 on the three-meter board to wrap up his first trip to the regional.
Jackson made her third career trip to the diving regional and started the weekend with a 24
th place finish on the three-meter board with 337.20 points. The most decorated female diver in history concluded her weekend with a 15
th place finish on the one-meter board on Saturday with 353.25 points.
Bond's second career trip to the regional started with a 20
th place finish on the three-meter board and 353.10 points and ended with a 31
st place finish and 313.25 points on the one-meter board the next day. Schuler became the third Grizzly female freshman diver to qualify for the regional, finishing with 286.65 points on the three-meter board and 290.90 points on the one-meter board
