RECAP | Men's Track & Field Claims Fifth at HCAC Indoor Championships

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Franklin men's track and field team put the finishing touches on the indoor season on Saturday (Feb. 25), taking fifth place at the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Indoor Championships.
 
Franklin claimed 50.3 points on the afternoon, finishing less than a point back of fourth place in the standings.
 
The Grizzlies claimed one medal finish on the afternoon with that coming in the day's final event. The team of Logan McIntosh, Luke Paddock, Drew McGaha and Eli Cochrane turned in a time of 3:28.47 in the 4x400m relay to earn a silver medal finish.
 
 Several Grizzlies turned in strong showing but just missed out on a podium finish in their event. Elliott Gough placed fourth in the mile in 4:36.36 and Cochrane matched that finish in the 800m in 2:00.72. Nick Patton was a fourth-place finisher in the 60m hurdles in 8.92 seconds, finishing just ahead of fifth place finisher Zach Roberts and his time of 8.94 seconds.
 
McGaha took sixth in the 800m in 2:02.27 and Sam Wilson finished sixth in the mile in 4:38.23. In the field portion of the day, Noah Sigler placed fourth in the weight throw (16.11m) and eighth in the shot put (13.38m) while Tristan Konkler took seventh in the high jump by clearing the 1.77m bar.
 
The Grizzlies will be off to prepare for the outdoor season, which gets underway on Mar. 18 with the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invite.
